The cottage is set on the edge of the peaceful village of La Jousselinière, only 7km from Sainte Hermine, which has many shops, restaurants and bars. The village of Thiré is only 2km away, and there is a bar & pizzeria open nightly.

Boating and fishing are available nearby on the lake at St Martin Lars or in the Forest of Mervent. For the more energetic guests, there is horse riding or a swimming pool within 20 minutes and the beaches of the southern Vendée are only 45 minutes drive away.

The Aquarium at La Rochelle

For a more sedate day out there is the world famous Venise Verte - a Regional Wetland Park, with miles of canals and ruined abbeys to explore. The scenery is stunning and there are many villages and small towns dotted nearby to stop for refreshments.

There are many different seaside resorts and towns within driving distance, including the harbour at Talmont St Hilaire where you can see the daily oyster catch being brought ashore, La Tranche sur Mer, with its bustling tourist streets and the old town of La Rochelle with its harbour-side cafés and restaurants. A great place to explore and take in the atmosphere.
